Social Media Rockstars
Another year of the Social Media Rockstar event has come and gone, and there were so many amazing insights shared about the world of digital marketing! I came home from the event yesterday amped up about marketing and how I can better help my clients as well as my own company. Actually, I’m pretty sure I had a dream about a brilliant way to use some of the information shared…if only I could remember all the details! The point is, I woke up this morning ready to hit the ground running and rock this marketing stuff ‘like a boss’ (thanks Ryan Peña!).
Last year’s event carried the theme of authenticity and transparency, which was sprinkled throughout yesterday’s topics as well. Another overall theme from all of the great speakers this year centered around the importance of having a content strategy and goals. If you don’t know who you’re trying to reach with your marketing or what you want them to do with it, you need to rethink your strategy. Jen Jamar talked about some analytics and great ways to measure how that strategy is measuring up.
I am still in awe of Dennis Yu and Alex Ownejazayeri from BlitzMetrics though. Dennis spoke about Facebook and paying to reach your business page’s fans through remarketing and custom audience lists. He shared so many great ideas and case studies, but the bottom line is that you need to be creating quality content for the right audience in order for your message to get across. Once you’ve figured that out, you don’t need to spend big money to reach your page’s audience on Facebook. In fact, just start with video content and a dollar a day. This post definitely does not do their talk justice, but I wanted to share a couple of takeaways with you!
You can pretty much guarantee when (not if!) you attend next year’s Social Media Rockstar event that you will have a long to-do list of ways to rock your marketing game. I learned from last year and chose only 7 things to put on my immediate to-do list–and that was a struggle narrowing them down. Guess I better get to work on them!
