3 Reasons Your Business Needs a Blog
What do you think about blogging?
If you’re a business owner and you haven’t seriously considered adding a blog to your website, you should take another look. Blogging can be a key piece of a good marketing strategy for businesses, but many companies are ignoring it.
Blogging can be intimidating, especially for those who didn’t excel in their English or creative writing classes in school. But school was a long time ago for most of us (let’s not count the years!) and today, blogging isn’t only about proper grammar; it’s about providing value to your target audience.
Let’s dive in to three great reasons you should start a blog for your business!
1) Build relationships
As a business owner, you have a wealth of knowledge to offer your clients and prospects. Today, these same people you’re trying to do business with are trying to find information about you online. If they can’t find it, they’ll move on to your competitor’s site. If you have a blog, you can build a relationship with your audience and eventually they will get to know you and trust you. This often leads to a potential client converting into an actual, paying customer.
2) Search engines will love it
You’ve probably heard of the term SEO (Search Engine Optimization), right? I’m not going to get overly complicated here, except to say that the more relevant and useful information that you have on your website, the more search engines like you. If search engines like you, your website will show up closer to the top of your prospect’s queries. Blogging is a great way to add relevant, valuable content for your prospects, clients and, yes, even Google.
3) Cost effective
You already have a website for your business. (You don’t?! Quickly–fill out this form!) You know your target audience is online and that they want information about your business. Why not provide them with the instant gratification we all love these days? Blog about your business. Talk about the products or services you offer that will help them out, or make life easier or more fun. For example, are you an insurance agent? Then you really have a lot to blog about: life insurance, health insurance, insurance claims…the list goes on and on! People are hungry for information and you can provide it easily on your website. In many cases, you can add a blog to your website without paying extra (this depends on how your site is set up).
These are just three reasons your business should have a blog. Are you curious about blogging? I encourage you to start today, and if you get stuck just give me a call!
